Saturday 26th March 2016
Casey McQuillans Shelbourne side welcomed Christy Lougheeds Peamount United team to Morton Stadium on a cold wintery evening in Santry for this local Dublin Derbyat it didnt disappoint the small crowd.
The home side caught the peas flat for an opening goal that would grace any league in the world when Rebecca Creagh looped the ball over Brooke Dunne from just outside the eighteen yard box. Shelbourne doubled their lead when Creagh got her second of the game as she done well to guide a header from Siobhan Killeen's cross into the far corner of Peamounts net giving Dunne no chance.
It wasn't long before the experience of Shelbourne took advantage of the dominance and grabbed their third goal when Megan Lynch's cross was deflected into the net by Lauren Kealy.
Noelle Murray made it four when she waltzed her way through the Peamount defence to slot home past Dunne and leave the scoreline with Shels four up at the break.
The second half saw Peamount United pull a goal back when Amber Barrett reacted quickest to a bad back pass and she showed composure when firing a low shot under the advancing Amanda McQuillan. The Peas did go close again when Barrett robbed a defender off the ball before unleashing a shot but it went just wide of McQuillans post.
Shelbourne did get close to increasing their lead but found Dunne in fine form to deny them any more goals. The Peas will look to get back to winning ways having played played four of the last five games away from home.
